A Population-based Study Evaluating the Association Between Surgery in Early Life and Child Development at Primary School Entry
Abstract
( Anesthesiology . 2016;125:272–279) Surgery in childhood warrants the administration of anesthetics or sedatives. Earlier studies have indicated a significant correlation between anesthetic exposure in childhood and neurodevelopment, as evaluated by academic performance indicators or behavioral outcomes. The present population-based cohort study aimed to analyze the impact of anesthesia and surgery in early childhood on child development.
