DSP-Enabled 104-Gb/s 16-QAM Nyquist Subcarrier Modulation Using a Silicon Micro-Ring Resonator

Abstract

Digital signal processing-enabled, single-polarization, single-carrier, 16-quadrature amplitude modulation Nyquist subcarrier modulation using a silicon micro-ring resonator is experimentally demonstrated. A bit error ratio of $3.6\times 10^{\mathbf {-3}}$ is achieved in a back-to-back measurement at a bit rate of 104 Gb/s.
