abstract
This contribution integrates consulting experience with urban road systems maintenance problems in Southern Ontario in terms of pavement maintenance management (APWA PAVER-based approach), current materials and procedures that are giving desired performance, new approaches with promise (geotextiles based on fiberglass to reduce reflection cracking, high stability steel slag asphaltic concrete to reduce milling requirements, etc. ) and new testing methods. Areas of particular concern have been drainage improvements, crack sealing materials and procedures including inspection, and the impact of utility cuts.
