Metastable peaks of exponential shape

Abstract It is shown that a monotonically decreasing translational kinetic energy distribution predicted from the quasi‐equilibrium theory for the unimolecular fragmentation ([CH 2 CO] + ˙→[CH 2 ] + ˙ +CO) is reflected in an exponential shape for the metastable peak in contrast to the commonly observed Gaussian type profile.
