Editorial

Abstract

Electrical and electronic systems in general, and power electronics and motor drives in particular, play a vital role in advanced automotive systems. The papers in this Special Section on Automotive Power Electronics and Electrical Drives are focused on the state-of-the-art research and development as well as future trends in the areas of automotive power electronics and drives, including electric, hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid electric, and fuel-cell vehicles. For this Special Section, we received many paper submissions, which were of exceptionally high quality. Due to the space limitations, we have been able to accept only about 25% of them for publication in this Special Section.
