In April 2012, the York University Graduate Program in Theatre Studies presented its first annual graduate symposium on the topic of Activist Performance in/and Canada. The conference immediately preceded and was linked to The Performance Studies (Canada)’s PS Methodologies Workshop.
Catherine Graham discusses her own history of engaging with activist performance and the three landmarks around which she hopes to gather with others to better understand it: increased participation in public life, the role of artistic skill and the importance of pleasure.
