On the Coupling Between Solute Drag and Recrystallization Kinetics

Abstract

It is proposed that the kinetics of recrystallization may be influenced by the presence of a solute drag term. Immediately upon nucleation, recrystallized grains are considered close to an equilibrium; they will grow slowly and will likely be influenced by solute drag. Depending on the nucleation site density and the other factors attending the recrystallization process, the growing grains may then experience a transition to a higher mobility regime. Consequences for the overall recrystallization kinetics are considered.
