Ruse or obsession? "Substituted sexual partner" in the Cent nouvelles nouvelles
Abstract
The article proposes to establish the relevance of the notion ofnarrative topos as a means ofunderstanding the process ofliterary writing. It shows how the author of the Cent nouvelles nouvelles creates a series ofdistinct stories using a single mould: that of the « substituted sexual partner», with or without the knowledge of the character concerned. The reader is shown how far the range of possible configurations ofa single narrative can be taken.
