  • The effect of the isobar-hole excitation process on the [Formula: see text] transition strength is calculated in first order perturbation theory for finite nuclei (12C, 48C, 90Zr, and 208Pb), using Hartree–Fock wave functions. The pion and ρ-meson exchanges are taken into account for the NN–NΔ transition potential using a realistic two-body correlation function. The results show a considerable reduction effect (about 30%) and favourable A-dependence.
