The determination of partial structure functions in an Al-Zn-Ag alloy

Abstract

The three linearly independent partial structure functions have been successfully determined for a ternary Al-14%Zn-4%Ag sample using the technique of anomalous small angle x-ray scattering. The corrected intensity vs the relative change in the scattering factor of Zn showed the predicted quadratic form. The parameters of the fitted parabola yield directly the partial structure functions SZnZn(q), SZnAg(q), and SAgAg(q). The results are compared to the two-phase model of phase separation.
