A transportable system for measurement of kidney cadmium in vivo

Abstract

A transportable system for the in vivo measurement of the concentration of cadmium in the left kidney has been developed. The system and its method of use are described, and its detection uniformity and sensitivity compared to similar systems. The detection limit was 2.4 mg (ISE) for an organ dose of 140 mRem (1.4 mSv). The system has been used for 450 human measurements at four factory sites.
