Transient Oscillations and Noise in the Reception of TV Signals

Abstract

The reception of a NTSC TV signal using a narrow band receiver is studied. A mathematical model is developed. Based on this model, a computer program is written simulating the transmission and reception of TV signals. The transient oscillations and the noises in the received primary colour signals are analysed revealing that the blue colour signal suffers the most, the red colour signal being second, and the green colour signal has the smallest transient and noise. These results are confirmed by computer simulation.
