Dr. Leslie J. King has a long and outstanding record of scholarly research and publication, journal editing, and professional leadership in urban and economic geography. He was a pioneer in introducing mathematical models to geography and was a founding member of the interdisciplinary field of regional science. He has made major contributions in developing the theoretical underpinnings of economic geography, in quantitative modelling, central place theory and the systematic analysis of fluctuations in economic activity across space and over time.
