William Hanley
Professor, French

Dr. Hanley’s research relates to the French Enlightenment, focusing on Voltaire and censorship under the Ancien Régime. His articles have appeared in such journals as the Bulletin du Bibliophile, Studies on Voltaire and the Eighteenth Century, the British Journal for Eighteenth-Century Studies, Studi Francesi, The Papers of the Bibliographical Society of America, the Revue d’historie litteraire de la France, and The Library. Two volumes of his book A Biographical Dictionary of French Censors (1742-1789) have been published (Ferney-Voltaire).
