Dr Behrooz Astaneh is a multifaceted professional with extensive experience as a faculty member, medical writer, medical editor, researcher, and publication ethicist in academia and the medical field.
He is skilled in Health Research Methodology, Clinical Epidemiology, Clinical Research, Evidence-Based Medicine, Medical Editorship, Medical journalology, Publication Ethics, Publication Science, Medical Publishing, and Workshop Presentation. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Iran, and a Medical Journalology degree from Westminster University, London, UK, and a Ph.D. in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
He has extensive experience and an established reputation in medical journal editorship at senior levels and pioneered academic medical journalology and publication by founding the first Master of Science Program in Medical Journalology and Publication Science. He is also the co-founder of the innovative full-term course on medical writing and publishing (HRM 731) at HEI Department, Faculty of Health Sciences.
Dr. Astaneh has held editorial leadership roles at national and international medical journals. He is an Associate Editor at the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) and served as a council member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and was a core member of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and a director of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
He is recognized for conducting over 750 workshops on medical journalology, clinical research, scientific writing, medical publishing, peer review, scientometry, and publication ethics globally.
