abstract

  • We show that a practical way to reduce capacitance in large-area ceramic dielectric thin-film electroluminescent devices is to utilize light that escapes under the edges of the electrodes. A striped electrode structure is demonstrated and shown to reduce capacitance without significant light loss. In addition, transparent electrodes are not needed. We suggest low-resistivity, low capacitance electrodes for large-area electroluminescent devices based on the edge emission technique.
