Adam Percival Hitchcock
Professor Emeritus, Chemistry & Chemical Biology

My research focus is inner shell excitation spectroscopies and spectro-microscopies, in particular synchrotron based soft X-ray transmission microscopy (STXM) and ptychography. A major part of this work is the development of new experimental techniques based on electron impact and X-ray absorption phenomena, and their application to a wide variety of chemical, physical and materials problems. Collaborations with researchers in government, industry, and other universities play a large role in my approach to promote interest in, and practical uses for, inner-shell spectroscopies and spectro-microscopies.
